May 3, 2009 - movements exceed the biomechanical limits of workers. The main problems I had with this book popped up in the first section. Excessive abdominal weight is almost entirely a biomechanical problem since the lordotic configuration of the lumbar spine is further taxed by an anterior shift in the center of gravity. When these limits are exceeded, not only do muscles develop microtears, but microfractures occur to the spine, and result in the debilitating disc degeneration found in many nurses. In her very popular book “Gait Analysis”, Perry reports that limited ankle dorsiflexion (she calls it excessive plantar flexion, but states that the two terms are interchangeable when discussing gait) will have three main proximal compensations: 1) Early heel lift 2) Knee hyperextension and 3) “Forward lean of the trunk with anterior tilt of the pelvis”. It's fine throughout the introduction, but then it comes to a 4-step diagram on how to assume neutral-braced-spinal position, which is the very first thing the book teaches you other than "the gym is your lab". I am always looking for new information and books to expand my knowledge of . Oct 17, 2013 - If you're still reading, I'm assuming you have a working background education of anatomy and biomechanics. May 27, 2013 - As a biomechanics and Injury prevention specialist, I specialize in corrective exercise and have made a successful career out of it. Feb 27, 2014 - For a clearer evaluation on the lumbar component compared to the cervical and thoracic spine, the X-ray beam for radiography was focused on the second lumbar vertebrae. Mar 11, 2012 - I recommend two books: Ligament and Tendon Relaxation Treated By Prolotherapy by Hackett, Hemwall, and Montgomery, a book for physicians in which the authors present the evidence for the association between ligaments and pain, give a detailed description and mapping of ..
